Context: Sustainable tourism requires effective alignment between regulatory frameworks, territorial management, and university education to develop professionals capable of addressing the sector's environmental, social, and economic challenges. Objective: This study aims to analyze the scientific production regarding education for sustainable tourism and its relationship with Peruvian legislation, identifying its implications for university-level professional training. Methodology: A systematic review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. The search was performed across Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, Redalyc, DOAJ, and Latindex, utilizing Boolean search strings in Spanish, English, and Portuguese related to education, sustainable tourism, professional training, regulatory frameworks, and Peru. The review included 30 articles with verifiable DOIs published between 2014 and 2026, selected for their relevance to sustainable tourism education, regulatory references, or Latin American experiences. Results: Findings revealed an upward trend in scientific production between 2021 and 2026, with the highest concentration of studies found in Scopus (46.7%) and Latindex (30%). Qualitative approaches predominated. Furthermore, significant gaps were identified between the principles established in Law 32392 and current university curricula, particularly regarding the development of socio-environmental competencies, territorial governance, and responsible tourism management. Conclusions: The integration of legislation and university professional training is a fundamental pillar for strengthening capacities oriented toward sustainable tourism. It is essential to update curricula, promote environmental competencies, and consolidate training frameworks aligned with the 2030 Agenda and territorial needs.
