Socioemotional education and technological innovation in the learning and development of competencies in university students
Publicado
2026-06-08

Context: Socioemotional education has emerged as a cornerstone of higher education, particularly within environments where technological innovation reshapes teaching and learning processes. Objective: This study aims to analyze the current state of research regarding socioemotional education and technological innovation and their impact on the learning and competency development of university students. Methodology: A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines, analyzing 20 studies published between 2021 and 2025. The study evaluated patterns of integration between socioemotional competencies and technological tools in higher education settings. Results: The findings indicate that socioemotional competencies significantly impact academic achievement, psychological well-being, and the development of soft skills. Furthermore, emerging trends suggest that technological tools effectively enhance socioemotional education by facilitating personalized learning and the practical application of social and emotional competencies. Conclusions: Socioemotional education is critical for the holistic development of university students. Nevertheless, limitations persist regarding curricular formalization and faculty professional development. These findings underscore the need for robust educational policies and teacher-training programs that effectively integrate socioemotional competencies with educational technologies.
