Gestión universitaria en la calidad académica de los programas de maestría en una institución pública

University management in the academic quality of master’s programs in a public institution

La gestión universitaria constituye un factor determinante en la calidad académica de los programas de posgrado, particularmente en instituciones públicas donde la responsabilidad social y la rendición de cuentas adquieren mayor relevancia. El objetivo del estudio fue analizar la influencia de los procesos de gestión sobre la calidad académica de los programas de maestría en una universidad pública.  Se adoptó un enfoque mixto de tipo explicativo-secuencial, con un diseño no experimental y corte transversal. Se seleccionó una muestra de 245 participantes para la fase cuantitativa y 24 informantes para la fase cualitativa. Los resultados evidencian que la planificación estratégica, la evaluación institucional, el liderazgo académico y la participación de los actores académicos influyen significativamente en la calidad académica de los programas de maestría, explicando el 47% de la varianza en la calidad percibida. Se concluye que la gestión universitaria efectiva, fundamentada en principios de calidad total y mejora continua, constituye un pilar fundamental para alcanzar y sostener niveles óptimos de calidad académica en programas de posgrado.

University management constitutes a determining factor in the academic quality of postgraduate programs, particularly in public institutions where social responsibility and the performance of accounts acquire greater relevance. The objective of the study was to analyze the influence of management processes on the academic quality of master's programs at a public university. A mixed explanatory-sequential approach was adopted, with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design. A sample of 245 participants was selected for the quantitative phase and 24 informants for the qualitative phase. The results show that strategic planning, institutional evaluation, academic leadership and the participation of academic actors significantly influence the academic quality of mastery programs, explaining 47% of the variance in perceived quality. It is concluded that effective university management, based on principles of total and continuous improvement, constitutes a fundamental pillar for achieving and sustaining optimal levels of academic quality in postgraduate programs.
